High Desert Fire Artists

Fire Performances at Night

The High Desert Fire Artists are celebrating summer fest by bringing their unique and vibrant style of art to the streets of downtown Bend. Flaming hoops, poi, swords and staffs will sync with summer’s classic hits to bring you a mesmerizing display of fire dance. Don’t miss the chance to let their dynamic performances add a little spark to your festival experience.

Classes

Interested in joining the circus? The High Desert Fire Artists are bringing free flow arts classes to Bend’s Summer Fest. With a focus on exploration of movement and the enjoyment of play these classes are meant to be enjoyed by everyone from the young and the young at heart.

We will be teaching intro to poi and intro to hula hoop classes and will have an open session where you can try out a multitude of flow props.

Improv Games

IMPROV GAMES takes over the Mainstage at Summer Festival, hosted by the quick-witted Liam Gibler! Watch as performers create hilarious scenes, unforgettable characters, and even songs on the spot—all inspired by audience suggestions, participation, and prompts from the host. Every show is completely unique and wildly unpredictable. If you love Whose Line Is It Anyway?, you’ll love this fast-paced, laugh-out-loud improv experience.

Hot Wing Contest

Think you can handle the heat? Step up for the El Jefe Wing Challenge on Saturday, May 30 from 4pm–5pm! Contestants will have just three minutes, 15 blazing El Jefe wings, and one lonely napkin to prove their spice supremacy. No ranch. No blue cheese. No celery. Just pure wing-fueled determination. After each round, wings will be weighed to determine who conquered the most by weight. Top eaters will score 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize packages — plus serious bragging rights. SIGN UP ON SITE!

Lava City Cirque

Catch the magic of Lava City Cirque as they take to the air with a high-flying, awe-inspiring performance on the Summer Fest Main Stage! Featuring stunning aerial silks, trapeze, and circus arts, this one-hour showcase is equal parts strength, artistry, and pure spectacle—perfect for all ages. Don’t miss them Sunday, May 31 from 2:30–3:30pm.
